Finding Ourselves in the Past
So where did the name of this site, Ecstatic Green Leaves, come from? I wanted a name that honored the women who got me hooked on family history, even though we never met. My grandpa's sisters, Agnes and Lida Russell, were creators and keepers of letters, diaries, photos, postcards and scrapbooks. They passed when I was 12 years old. Their faithful friend, Dorothy Peek, fulfilled their wish that her old letters, scrapbooks and diaries would be sent from Oklahoma to family in Nebraska. Included in one of the letters that Lida sent to Agnes was the phrase, "that wonderful new array of ecstatic green little leaves." Image is below. What I know of the story of Agnes and Lida is one of many I hope to tell, as best I can, on this website.
Family history is never finished. And this site is a work in progress. As I continue to research and as I just simply go through the research files I have, paper and digital, I will add to and update these pages.
About
I believe we are formed not just by the culture around us, but by the influence of our ancestors, even those we have never met.
Do you see yourself in any of them?

If I live to be 150, I still probably will not get all my research posted on this site. So please, don't hesitate to contact me to ask questions. I will share whatever I have.
