Mary (Russell) Hollowell
It all started when...
I was about 12 years old when my dad received a box in the mail. It was from the best friend of his Aunt Agnes Russell who had recently died. This faithful friend, Dorothy Peek, fulfilled her friend's wish that her old letters, scrapbooks and diaries would be sent from Oklahoma to family in Nebraska.
I was fascinated and quickly got hooked on family history.
I have researched for a lot of years now, and it's time to get everything organized and into a format my descendants will be able to read, if they want to.
What do I do when not obsessing about Ancestors?
- I'm blessed to have three children and six grandchildren. I am very lucky that, except for my son, they all live in here in Grand Island. And he isn't that far away in Omaha.
- I work in marketing and financial development at the YMCA. I'm the "old lady who does social media" there, along with marketing pieces and grant writing.
- I am an only child with six brothers and sisters: Dad had no kids and Mom had six when they married; then they had me. The best of both worlds!
- I am also lucky to have in my life my English Shepherd, Henry, who's great big heart and deep threatening voice (and attitude, when necessary) make him the perfect dog for me.
