WILLIAM JONES and
ROSA BELLE (GREATHOUSE) JONES

John Jones, known as Jack[1], was born 5 September 1895 and died 23 August 1964[2] in Linn county, Missouri. He was a resident of Bevier, Missouri. The informant on his death certificate was his brother Earl Jones[3]. Jack was a World War I veteran.

Edith Jones was born in June 1897 in Bevier. She married G. E. (George Edward, known as Ed) Montgomery and died 12 March 1916 in Narrows Township, Macon county, Missouri[4]. Her cause of death was puerperal peritonitis, which is an infection following childbirth. She was 18. If the child died also, there is no death certificate for him or her in the Missouri Digital Heritage website.

In the 1900 census, William and Rosa were living in Bevier, Macon county, Missouri, with children Edward, John and Edith. William was a coal miner[5].

Ethel Jones was born in 1902 and died[6] in 1959[7]. She married Ray Robey and had four children: Floyd, Janice, Maxine and Marvin[8].

Willie Jones was born 19 August 1906 and died 29 June 1910 in Macon county, Missouri. He is buried in the Richards Dale cemetery in Bevier, Missouri[9]. The year 1910 is when Missouri started requiring death certificates. Willie doesn't have a certificate on Missouri Digital Heritage website. Willie died 12 days after his next younger sister, Rose.

Rose B. Jones was born 17 November 1909 at Ardmore, Macon county, Missouri and died 17 July 1910[10] at Ardmore of cholera infantum[11]. [Death certificate gives this child the name of "Ola Jones" instead of Rose, birth year appeared to be originally 1908 and a "9" was written over the "8", and the doctor attended through June but should probably be through July.]

A child whose name we don't know was born and died before the 1910 census. Rose is listed as the mother of 7 children, 6 living at the time of the census[12].

In the 1910 census, William C. and Rose were living East Chariton Township, Macon county, Missouri, with children Edward, John, Edith, Ethel, Willie and Rosie B. William was a coal miner[13].

Earl Jones was born 13 October 1912 and died 23 August 1986 in Missouri[14].

Jannie Jones was born 30 August 1914 in Ardmore and died 17 September 1914[15] in Ardmore. "Unviable development at birth" was given as the cause of death[16].

In the 1920 census, William C. and Rose were living in Chariton Township, Macon county, Missouri, with children John and Earl. William was a coal miner[17].

In the 1930 census, William and Rose were living in Charition Township, Macon county, Missouri, with son Earl. William was a laborer doing odd jobs. It must have been soon after this census was taken that Will moved to Loup County, Nebraska, and lived with this younger brother, Frank, and his family[18].

In the 1940 census, William was living in Sawyer Precinct, Loup county, Nebraska with his brother Frank and his family, Lizzie, Grace and Gerald[19]. Rose was living on South Macon Street in Bevier, Macon county, Missouri, with son Earl. Rose was divorced and neither she nor Earl listed an occupation[20].

Rose passed away on 21 June 1948 of pneumonia complicated by heart disease. She was 73. Her son Edd was the informant and he gave her marital status as widowed. Sadly, the death certificate states that she had had her left eye removed at some point. She was buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Bevier, Missouri[21].

Will lived to be 90 or 92, depending on which birth year is right. He passed away on 3 February 1957 in Sargent, Custer county, Nebraska, and is buried beside Frank and Lizzie in the Almeria Cemetery, Loup county, Nebraska[22].
